Police say preliminary investigations show that the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) student, who claimed to have been abducted and later found in Iringa, had in fact visited his girlfriend.

The Dar es Salaam Special Zone Commander, Lazaro Mambosasa, told reporters that police are still holding the Abdul Nondo and he will be charged in court. He further revealed that Nondo was communicating with the said woman while he was on his way to Iringa.

"The investigations revealed that the student wasn’t abducted but he was looking for political attention; he abducted himself causing panic in the society,” Mambosasa claimed.
