ATCL plans new routes in East African markets

AIR Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) plans to open new routes in East African region before the end of this year. ATCL Managing Director Engineer Ladislaus Matindi said here yesterday that currently the airline makes only one international flight to Comoro, hinting that by the end of 2018, the national flag carrier is determined to fly to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.

“The government has been devising strategies to revive the national carrier through purchase of new aircraft and improving airports...with such huge investments, we look forward to re-entering the East Africa’s airspace for business,” he told reporters after ATCL Board of Directors Chairman Engineer Emmanuel Korosso opened the second workers council’s meeting here.
Engineer Matindi said the government has purchased new and modern aircraft and ATCL is doing everything in its capacity to get passengers through improved customer care and establishment of new routes. “Our focus is to establish new routes in East Africa but before getting there, we are determined to improve our services,” he said.

Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) yesterday hosted a 15-member delegation that comprised German government officials, business community representatives, parliamentarians and AHK officials.
The visit to TIC aimed at sharing information on the investment environment and opportunities in the country prior to the office launch. “The most important thing is that Germans are very good in high tech, it’s our hope that their coming will get us more investors from Germany in the industrial sector, supporting us strategies that will enable it to survive and overcome the business challenges.
“I believe that you are ready to enter into the market and face competition, we need to strategise and set plans that will help us to exploit international markets,” said Engineer Korosso, charging that the government expects to see ATCL taking off strongly and profitably. He said the board expects all workers to work tirelessly for the benefit of the company and the nation at large.
“We expect ATCL to intensify business competition both domestically and internationally,” said the Board Chairman.
